Multi Skilled Employee

One of the secret in business continuity is a multi skilled employee . As one of the employee in a Global company in Malaysia , I was asked to do many tasks of my collegues when they are not around. Sometimes we need to shake our employees to make their eyes widely opened for oppurtunities in the business. How about rotating them every 3 or 6 months so that they know whats happening on the other side of the business . I being an operation guy at the frontline have followed my collegues in the marketing and sales dept to understand why they are so concerned about our on time delivery in the right qty and quality. We had Sales Depot Interface Meeting to discuss ways to fine tune our business from customer point of view. Try this on your staff . Take them with you when u meet stakeholders so that they know the pain that you are going through and appreciate your seriousness and firmness in decision making. Make them assist colleagues when their own task has ended or during their free time . Get them to cover colleagues who goes on leave . Try to absorb small mistakes that they make for the benefit of your continuation of your business. Coach and mentor them when they replace staff on leaves.
